Thank you for visiting the website of Brea Pediatric Dental Practice. Our site provides important information about our practice that will help you become familiar with pediatric dentistry. Our office is committed to providing you with the highest quality of care. We will make every effort to ensure that your first visit with us is a comfortable and informative experience.
Our practice has the specialized equipment, facility, and staff to properly address today's most demanding pediatric dental needs, in a warm and caring environment.
When you come to our office for your child’s first visit, we aim to keep your child comfortable, and do our best to develop a trusting relationship with them. We have multiple video games for their entertainment, busy cubes for the younger patients, and movies that are playing for them to keep as relaxed as possible. Each dental chair is equipped with a TV monitor on the ceiling as to keep them distracted during our exam and treatment. Whether your child is an infant or an adolescent, we devote the proper time during this visit to discuss with the parents in detail proper techniques and suggestions to ensure you are doing everything you can to prevent cavities at home.
The first "regular" dental visit should be at the age of 6 months (the time your child receives their first teeth) and no later than one year of age as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Many Pediatricians and general dentists are unaware of our specific guidelines and may recommend 1st visits at 3-5 years of age. This information, however, is incorrect. Dental check-ups starting at ages 3-5 have been found to be ineffective as cavities and cavity prone habits have already been present. We will gently examine your child's teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken to reveal decay and to check on the progress of your child's permanent teeth under the gums. A dental cleaning of your child's teeth and topical fluoride application may be performed to help protect the teeth against decay. Also, we will evaluate their diet and habits to ensure your child is receiving preventive dental care and adequate fluoride at home. Most important of all, we will review with you how to clean and care for your child's teeth and gums. Children with dental decay have been shown to have both decreased quality of life and performance in school.
Our office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, however, we do make arrangements to open the office until 6:00 PM to accommodate those who need later times. We also do open on occasional Saturdays for your convenience. We try to stay on schedule to minimize waiting at the time of your appointment. Delays to the schedule can occur and your understanding and patience are very much appreciated. If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.
Our office will make every effort to provide you with the finest care and the most convenient financial options. To accomplish this, we work with you to maximize your insurance coverage for covered procedures. Dental insurance is not like medical insurance where it covers majority of the cost of any procedure. It acts like a discount card helping with the cost of the procedure, making you responsible for any payment due, if any, for the services rendered which was not covered by your insurance company. Our office does it's best to give you the closest estimate possible, for the cost of your child's dental needs.
If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. They are well informed and up-to-date and can be reached by phone at (714) 255-8338.
